Happy Blogust! Leave A Comment, Give A Child A Vaccine

Blogust. Blog + August.

That means bloggers are using their voices every day to help kids on the other side of the globe. Every day this month a blogger, mother, father, celebrity, etc. will write about moments that matter. For every comment on these posts, Walgreens will donate a vaccine (up to 50,000 vaccines). You can essentially provide a different child with a vaccine every day just by leaving your two cents. In fact it won’t even cost that much. Give a child a Shot@Life without leaving your home, car, cubicle or beach chair.

Today’s post comes from actress and global health advocate Amanda Peet, now in Africa to watch a UN Foundation vaccination team in action. She may be more glamorous than the rest of us but Amanda, a mother of two, finds inspiration for giving back in her two daughters:

Our kids, Frankie and Molly, have a world of opportunity available to them. Like all parents, we don’t know what those opportunities will be. We are so lucky that our kids will have choices: the choice to follow their dreams and the choice to shape their own milestones. In many parts of the world, the lack of vaccinations means kids don’t have the choice or the opportunity to reach as many milestones. via Babble

Yes I support Shot@Life, an initiative of the United Nations Foundation that educates, connects and empowers the championing of vaccines as one of the most cost effective ways to save the lives of children in the world’s hardest to reach places.
